(KCEN) -- Waco police are investigating a money scam that happened earlier in November involving a senior citizen.
On November 12 officers went to the Lake Shore Estates Retirement Home for a report of a money scam.
A woman got phone call saying she won $695,000 from Publishers Clearing House. The caller said they were sending a yellow cab to pick her up and take her to the bank. The scammer said the woman needed to take out $2,000 and give it to them before she could receive her prize money.
The scammer also told the victim not to tell anyone and to call them back when the cab got there to pick her up. They also asked the cab company to call them when they had picked the woman up.
A yellow cab was then called to go get the woman.
The Waco Police Department called the cab company and canceled the cab.
The scammer called the cab company back after not receiving a call from the victim or from the cab company. The suspect then requested another cab to be sent to pick the woman up.
Police do not have any suspect information at this point.
