(KCEN) -- It's hard to imagine going a day without it.

We're talking about text messages.
    
And tomorrow will mark the 20th anniversary of the first text message sent to a mobile phone.  

British engineer Neil Papworth did the honors when he was 22-years-old.  

He sent the message Merry Christmas from his computer to his friend's mobile phone.  

That was back on December 3, 1992 and text messaging has come a long way since then.
