It's official. The Baylor Bears have made it to their third consecutive bowl game. But this year, it's not so close to home. In fact it's more than 1,300 miles away in San Diego, California.
The countdown is on, Baylor football fans have less than a month to get their tickets and travel accommodations for the Holiday Bowl against UCLA which is all the way in San Diego, California.
"I'm gonna try my best to go. I mean, travel expenses and making arrangements as well as money will make it hard," said Baylor Senior, Erickson Sampson.
Game day tickets which range from $65- $85 each are already on sale for Bear Foundation Members and season ticket holders. They have until Wednesday to buy them, then they go on sale to the public. But after that, fans will need to find a way to get to Qualcomm Stadium.
"A lot of people are on their own but Anthony Travel is the official travel agent of Baylor Athletics and they are putting some packages together," said Executive Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, Nick Joos.
Baylor has 11,000tickets to sell Joos says they know it's going to be hard to get Baylor fans to come to California on December 27th, so they're hoping California Alumni will support their Waco roots. "California is our second largest state with about 6,700 people outside of the state of Texas and so we're really going to be pushing those people to come and support the bears," he said.
Even current students from California plan to be there. "It is one of the best Christmas gifts I'll receive this year. I will be on the field...I'll be there , I'll be there first one there," said California native and Baylor Sophomore Tess Moore.
Students can buy tickets December 5th and Baylor hopes to get busloads of them off to the west coast for the game. Erickson hopes to be on one of them. "I'll do everything in my power to try to get out there because we need to get a good fan base out there," he said.
