(KCEN) -- A north Texas woman was shot and killed while trying to stop a man from committing suicide.

The man then fatally shot himself.

It happened in Kemp, just southeast of Dallas yesterday evening.

Investigators found the bodies of a 21-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man.

A witness told police that James Alan Nix was making threats to kill himself.

That's when Brittany Markham tried to take the gun from him but it went off, killing her.

The witness ran toward the road to get help but then a second shot was heard.

Both victims were found dead.

There is still no motive.
