(KCEN) -- Dozens of families are without a home after fire ripped through an apartment complex near Dallas last night.
Several crews helped fight the fire.
It destroyed the building's 22 units, leaving more than 50 residents homeless.
Five police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.
Two people were burned when they tried to return to their apartment to retrieve personal items.
And at least two other people living there were forced to jump from their balconies to escape the blaze.
There is still no word on what caused the fire.
