Legal Marijuana Measure Goes Into Effect in Washington State

(KCEN) -- It's a big day for Washington state today.

Starting today adults can now legally buy marijuana in the state.

Last month's measure to make recreational marijuana legal goes into effect today.

State law now allows adults over 21 to posses up to an ounce of the substance, but that contradicts federal law.

Washington will now license marijuana growers, processors and store.

But driving under the influence is still illegal.
