(KCEN) -- Mexico's military announced yesterday that a smuggling tunnel was discovered in the border town of Tecate.
The entrance to the tunnel was found inside a water purification plant, about 100 yards south of a fence along the California border.
It is 131 feet long, 39 feet below ground and equipped with ventilation and electricity systems.
Local reports said the Army has taken seven people into custody.
Over the past ten years, 89 cross border tunnels have been discovered in Arizona and 50 in California, according to the DEA.
