The Salvation Army's 'Fill the Truck' Campaign Comes to Waco

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- During the season of giving, The Salvation Army backed up trucks to the front door of Walmart.

The Fill the Truck campaign is an easy way for shoppers to donate new coats and toys to local boys and girls who need them this holiday season.

The goal for The Salvation Army is 10,000 toys. Donations could cost you less than $10. The Salvation Army tells us that their are quite a few trucks that need to be filled.

Heather Helton of The Salvation Army says, "Just here in Waco alone, we registered 5,000 kids. Temple registered over 600 kids.  And Killeen register about 1,000 kids. So you could imagine just how many toys that is. These kids wouldn't have a Christmas without our help."

If you couldn't make it out to fill the truck this afternoon, you could drop off your toys before the 14th at The Salvation Army Office in Waco, off West Waco Drive.
