(KCEN) -- A dog is thrown from a bridge over a highway in Oklahoma City.
The German Shepard named Rookie is still recovering tonight after a truck driver traveling along I-40 saw the whole thing happen.
A trooper later found the dog along the highway.
He was bleeding and had an open fracture on his leg and skid marks on his body.
Rookies injuries are so bad, he can't have surgery just yet and vets aren't sure he'll survive.
Mark Myers of the Oklahoma Co. Sheriff's Department says, "This is just a tragic, really sick situation for someone to take a defenseless dog and just toss it off of a bridge over a major interstate. I really don't understand how someone could do something like that."
A $2,500 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.
