Department of Agriculture Making Changes to School Lunch

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Following widespread complaints, the Agriculture Department is allowing more grains and meat in school lunch meals.

Federal guidelines set limits on calories and salt, and dictated how much of certain food groups could be served.

Parents and school administrators complained about the rules, saying kids aren't getting enough to eat.

The department will now remove daily and weekly maximums on grains and meats.
