UMHB Volleyball Player Named to Academic All-American Team

Belton, TX –University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball player Morgan Baker has been named to the Capital One Division III Academic All-America Volleyball Team, released today. Baker was voted to the Academic All-America Third Team to take Academic All-America honors for the first time in her career.

Baker, a junior outside hitter from Needville High School, carries a 4.00 GPA as a pre-physical therapy major. She posted 86 kills and a .192 hitting percentage this season. Baker also added 13 service aces, 156 digs and 15 total blocks during the season.

The Cru volleyball team finished the 2012 season with a 22-8 record and advanced to the Semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. UMHB also set a new school Division III era single-season record with the 22 victories.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 16,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
