(KCEN) -- At least five homes were destroyed following a gas line explosion in West Virginia yesterday.
Flames shot 100 feet into the air, hopping over Interstate 77 near Sissonville.
The blast happened around 12:40 p.m. and was still burning last night.
The heat and flames were so intense firefighters couldn't get close to the blaze.
Crews worked to shut off the pipeline.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the explosion.
Two people were sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
