(KCEN) -- He's almost as popular as Santa Claus.

Well, maybe not quite, but residents of Providence, Rhode Island say it wouldn't be the holiday season with the Dancing Cop.

Each Christmas since 1984, retired police officer Tony Lepore pulls out his uniform and shows off his fancy dance moves while directing traffic at a busy intersection.

Even though Lepore retired from the police force in 1989, he was sworn in as a part time officer so he could continue spreading good cheer with his unique dance routines during the holidays.
