Police in Aledo Trying to Track Down Real-Life Christmas Grinch

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Police in one small Texas town are trying to track down a real-life Christmas grinch.

A thief is stealing holiday decorations from homes in Aledo and was recently caught on camera.

Surveillance video shows a grown woman walk up to the door of a home, rip off their wreath, then walk away.

Then she unplugged some of their Christmas lights, yanked them up and took off.

Police say the same thing has happened at least four other times this month.

Homeowner Jon Starnes said, "Just couldn't believe it that a grown individual would do something like that. It is so petty."

Lt. Mark Arnett of the Parker County Sheriff's Department said, "It's funny because it's unusual and you know everybody's getting a laugh out of it and everything and relating it to the grinch but the bottom line is, people could die over this."

Officers worry what could happen if a startled homeowner catches her in the act.

So far the suspect has not been caught.
