(KCEN) -- Marijuana remains the most popular illicit drug of choice for teens.

The National Institute of Drug Abuse surveyed more than 45,000 10th and 12th graders.

More of them said they have used marijuana in the past year more than any other illegal drug.

And for the first time, the survey asked teens about their use of bath salts, which have been blamed for a series of bizarre violent behaviors.

The survey found the use of that stimulant is low.
