(KCEN) -- South Korea's President, Park Geun-hye announced today that North Korea's recent launch of a long range rocket showed security was a major concern in the region.
Geun-hye is the first female president in South Korea and has pledged to work for greater peace.
She vows to work towards allowing all South Koreans to share economic benefits.
In addition to meeting with reporters, she also paid homage to ancestors and patriots at a cemetery amid tight security.
Park was elected yesterday with 51 point six percent of the vote.
