President and Congress Try to Reach Agreement Before Fiscal Cliff
(KCEN) -- Republican lawmakers said Sunday they believe President Barack Obama wants the country to fall off the fiscal cliff for political purposes.
There's just 7 days before the country falls off the so called fiscal cliff.
Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming said on Fox News he sees a political victory at the bottom of the cliff for the president.
"I think he sees a political victory at the bottom of the cliff. He gets all this additional tax revenue for new programs, he gets to cut the military which democrats have been calling for, for years and he gets to blame republicans for it," Barrasso says.
Still, Barrasso says there's time yet for a breakthrough when both Congress and the president return to Washington after the Christmas holiday.
