(KCEN) -- While most Central Texans are out buying gifts for Christmas, some are out stealing them.
Just this past Friday, a Waco man did everything he could to prevent his house from being robbed. But the thief still managed to ruin his Christmas.
Last week Steven Dowell of Waco, was sitting in his office when he noticed a white truck outside.
After talking to the man in the truck, Steven dialed 911 and told police about a suspicious man who was wandering around his house.
Then on Friday, Steven's roommate Shannon comes home to a broken window with a brick through it.
Close to $2,500 worth of electronics and money he saved to buy Christmas gifts had been stolen from their home.
The house is off I-35 South across from Baylor.
Steven told me that he doesn't have any neighbors.
"I see why all these people are leaving now. That granite shop left. People next door got all their junk out, hell he got his house broken into several months ago," Dowell says.
Now Steven and Waco PD weren't able to get a license plate of the suspect but they managed to get a description of the car.
The suspect drove a white, single cab, Chevy Cheyenne with a dual exhaust last seen near Downtown Waco.
