(KCEN) -- But it's not just Texans headed away from home, people across the nation are crowding some of America's busiest airports.
Starting mid-week a massive storm hit much of the country, dumping more than a foot of snow in some places.
More than 1,700 flights were canceled.
And for the 84-million people expected to travel by car this holiday, forecasters are warning roads could become treacherous Christmas day and Christmas night from the high plains of Western Kansas and the Texas panhandle eastward into Oklahoma and North Texas.
