It's been nearly two weeks since the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, and the victims' families are still in the thoughts and prayers of many.
So from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Razzoo's Cajun Restaurant in Harker Heights is matching donations for the them, as support pours in from the community.
It's all to help those who are hurting when they need it most.
The day 20 precious children and their heroic teachers were killed in the massacre will be forever seared on the hearts and minds of Americans.
"This will be a situation that will be remembered, it won't be forgotten," said Mary Wilkins, who donated to the cause.
To show the grieving families that they don't have to face it alone, central Texans, like her and Debra York gave what they could at the fundraiser.
Debra said, "Even though it didn't happen to us directly, it affected everybody in the nation, so just to show that we care, anything that we can do is helpful."
The amount the patron wants to donate is added onto the bill, and at the end of the day, Razzoo's is matching everything dollar for dollar.
"We want to do anything we can to try to give them some kind of relief, in their time of grief, and we thought that today would be a good opportunity to do that," said Matt Hubbard, area manager for Razzoo's.
Newtown officials say money is the best way help right now.
They've received so many gifts, like toys and supplies, that they're overwhelmed.
All the monetary donations go to the My Sandy Hook Family Fund created by family and friends of the victims.
It's for funeral expenses and other immediate needs until they can get back on solid ground.
Mary said, "They will know that there are some people that care about them, that are thinking about them, and they do want to help in any way possible."
"Everybody is thinking about them, and deep in the heart of Texas, even though we're not near there, we still think about it every day," said Debra.
Now each face and name is committed to memory for so many, in a nation committed to standing together.
