(KCEN) -- A winter storm socked southern New Mexico and west Texas.

Heavy, wet snow began falling this morning across the borderland causing some school closures.

The El Paso Zoo even closed for the day.

The snow did eventually taper off today, but is expected to start up again later with accumulations of up to four inches expected.

Crews were out sanding and salting roadways and keeping an eye on driving conditions.
