Snow Falls Overnight in El Paso

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Commuters in west Texas took alternative routes to work this morning due to snow from a winter storm last night.

The National Weather Service is reporting that up to three inches of snow has already fallen in the El Paso area.

As a result, Interstate 10 was closed approximately 40 miles southeast of the city.

A highway from the city's eastern outskirts to the New Mexico border was also closed, along with the heavily traveled Transmountain Highway.

Before the storm moves through, parts of the area could see up to eight inches of snow.
