(KCEN) -- Four people are dead following a police standoff with a gunman who barricaded himself inside his Aurora home.
Police received calls from neighbors around 3:00 this morning reporting gunfire.
Authorities say a woman inside the gunman's house escaped unharmed and told police she saw three people in the house who appeared to be dead.
The standoff with the gunman lasted nearly six hours.
At one point he shot at police in an armored vehicle who fired tear gas inside.
Sgt Cassidee Carlson of the Aurora Police Department says, "Then we kept persisting on him coming out, on his surrendering. He did not. And then he came to a second story window with a gun and fired upon us a second time. This time shots were returned. The suspect was hit. He has been pronounced dead."
Police have not released the name of the gunman or the three victims.
A motive for the killings has not been determined.
