Dog Survives Shotgun Blast

Posted: Updated:

A dog that was hit by a shotgun blast, then put in a trash bag and left to die is now recovering. And it's thanks to some animal lovers.

The dog's name is Buck, named after the buckshot that could have killed him. Someone found the dog in a trash bag, tied to a post in Conroe. They got in touch with a woman known for helping distressed animals who was able to get buck to an emergency clinic.

He had buckshot wounds to his eyes, mouth, gums, neck and shoulders. And he was also suffering from hypothermia after spending at least 10 hours in the bag. "He was extremely anemic and very dehydrated, very lethargic, wouldn't move. He also was limping, but they've been able to stabilize him," says Tami Augustyn, an Animal rescuer.

Buck may be blind permanently. He also appears to have hearing loss and may have brain damage.

A Facebook page has been set up for buck, asking for donations to help pay for his medical care which is expected to cost about five thousand dollars.

Here's the link to that Facebook page
