Grand Jury Will Not Indict Driver of Midland Parade Float

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- There is new information on the deadly parade float accident in Midland last November that killed four U.S. veterans.

A grand jury has decided not to indict the driver.

Dale Andrew Hayden was driving the flatbed when it was hit by a train during a parade honoring Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

The grand jury decided Hayden did not intentionally put the veterans and their families in harm's way.

Hayden's lawyer, Hal Brockett, says from a criminal standpoint its over, but there are many civil lawsuits that could be filed.

Brockett said, "You can't undo what's been done. You can only hope to move forward and hope things get better for everybody who is involved."

Sixteen other people were injured.

Two of the soldiers killed died after pushing their wives to safety.
