(KCEN) -- There were some scary moments yesterday afternoon for a family in McGregor when their horse wandered over a covered pool and became trapped inside.

It happened around 4 p.m. on Bubert lane.

That's where a gate somehow got open and the horse walked over a covered pool.

The cover ripped and the horse was trapped for about an hour before several people were able to lead it up some steps using ropes.

The horse is suffering from hypothermia and has cuts and bruises but it is expected to be ok.
