(KCEN) -- A Texas company says it has an invention that will prevent mold in food without using preservatives.

Lubbock-based Microzap uses radio frequency and low heat to treat and kill mold, eliminating bakers' need for preservatives.

It claims the technology allows bread to stay mold-free for 60 days.

The company says adding its technology to a clothes dryer or washing machine also kills bacteria on fabrics such as sheets, towels and scrubs.

A patent is pending on the technology.
