(KCEN) -- Two Waco Police Officers are on paid administrative leave after being involved in a shooting this morning.
The shooting happened around 11a.m. at a home in the 3400 block of Forrester Lane.
That's when officers responded to a domestic violence call about a disturbance and a woman screaming. The female told officers that the suspect was inside the home and that he was armed.
Officers tried to make contact with the suspect, which is when the suspect came at them in a threatening way.
Responding in a routine manner when threatened and believing the suspect was armed, officers fired at the suspect, wounding him.
After officers took the suspect into custody, they discovered he was no longer armed and had discarded his weapon.
The suspect was still talking when he was taken to Hillcrest Hospital.
Additional investigation showed that the suspect fired the gun he had in the bedroom of the house just before officers arrived.
No one else was injured in the incident.
It is routine procedure to place officers involved in shootings on administrative leave pending an investigation.
