The City of Temple is one step closer to having their very own dog park.
And with your help, they're hoping to open by Spring 2013.
"We do have a lot of apartments and a lot of close places where dogs are not allowed to go," said Barking Oaks Pet Resort Owner Hansy Howard.
For the past three years Hansy Howard has ran a local dog park and pet resort.
But before her business opened, there was no places for dogs to go.
"Everything is an on leash, so dogs don't get to be a dog, they only have a radius of how long the leash is," said Howard.
Currently Lion's Park is full of dog owners.
"We come out here like about once a month and let the dogs run around when there's no one around," said dog owner Ross Bryant.
But there's not a specific area where dogs are free to run and play.
The City of Temple is trying to change that, by building a free-range dog park.
An acre and a half of land will go towards the dog park at Lions Park.
Half of it will go for the smaller dogs, and the other half for the larger ones.
"It would be ok for people who like to have their dogs socialize," said Bryant.
But in order to make this a reality, they're asking for your help.
An online donation site allows Central Texans to help get the park up an running.
Two separate areas will have shade and water for dogs and their owners.
It will also include close parking, benches, tables and more.
Howard plans to continue growing her business, but supports any idea, that lets a dog be a dog.
"The more dog parks there are the more places that we can bring our dogs," said Howard.
