Hamburgers in Ireland, Britain Recalled For Fear They Contain Horsemeat

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Ten million hamburgers from supermarkets across Ireland and Britain are being recalled in fear they contain horsemeat.

Silvercrest Food, Ireland's second largest processor of hamburgers acted after Irish government tests showed that more than a third of hamburger patties had horse and pig meat.

Regulators say the discovery poses no danger to the public.

But it undermines Britain and Ireland's beef business.

Irish investigations are looking into European sources of beef that were processed at the Silvercrest plant.
