(KCEN) -- A new bill that would allow concealed handguns on college campuses is being introduced by Texas state Senator Brian Birdwell and 13 others.
Birdwell represents much of our area, including Bosque, Coryell, Hill and McLennan Counties.
The Personal Protection Act being introduced would allows students, faculty and staff members with concealed handgun licenses to carry their firearms on campus.
And colleges or universities can't impose administrative bans or penalties to circumvent the law.
But school can make their own rules on gun storage in dorms.
All sporting events and venues will stay off-limits to concealed gun licensees.
