Illinois Police Officers Busted in Drug Scheme

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Three Illinois police officers are now facing drug charges after being busted for a drug scheme.

Officials say Matthew Hudak, Terrance O'Brien and John Cichy robbed drug dealers and even stole drugs from crime scenes.

The acts were caught on video and audio tape.

They're now being held on $750,000 full cash bond each.

O'Brien could be heard saying he did it for the, "thrill of it."

Authorities say some of the deals were made while the officers were in uniform and in unmarked Schaumburg police cars.

Duprage County State Attorney Robert Berlin said, "They would give the drugs to the informant. He would sell those drugs and share those proceeds with the police officers."

In bond court, Cichy was the only defendant who showed any emotion.

He buried his head in his hands and often shook his head in disbelief.
