(KCEN) -- A Louisiana man accused of cutting his unborn child from his pregnant wife was in court this week.
He is currently charged with feticide, attempted second degree murder and battery of a police officer.
This past October, deputies said Jefferey Reynolds attacked his wife Paula, who was seven and a half months pregnant.
Deputies said he cut his unborn child from her and stabbed the baby.
Reynolds claims that he was on synthetic drugs at the time and that that was the reason for his actions.
"I love my wife and son with all my heart and hope the state will make new laws and enforce laws against synthetic drugs that has ruined my family," says Reynolds.
Toxicology reports were sent off but haven't come back.
