COLLEGE STATION,
Texas --- Texas A&M University has agreed in principle to a salary
increase and contract extension for head football coach Kevin Sumlin, as
well as increased compensation packages for the
Aggie assistant football coaches, pending the scheduled Feb. 1, 2013 meeting of the A&M System Board of Regents, Director of Athletics Eric Hyman announced on Saturday.
In its first season under Sumlin's direction, the
Texas A&M football team posted its fourth 11-win season in program
history, which included a road victory over eventual national champion
Alabama and an AT&T Cotton Bowl victory over Big
12 Co-Champion Oklahoma. The Aggies finished No. 5 in the final
Associated Press Top 25 ranking, which was A&M's highest finish
since 1956.
