Several Cases Reported of Accidental Shootings at Gun Shows

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Accidental shootings happened at three gun shows nationwide today.

In North Carolina, a shotgun went off as the owner was unzipping the case to have the weapon checked by police.

Three people were hit with birdshot pellets.

One person was hit in the torso, and two others in the hand.

No one was seriously hurt.

The owner intended to sell the shotgun at the show.

A witness said he was about to enter the building when he heard a loud pop.

Daniel Peadon who witnessed the shooting says, "Honestly, most people didn't realize what happened. The people right there at the door, a lot of them ran. They scattered. Because it was chaotic a little bit at first."

In Indianapolis, IN, police say a 54-year old man was injured when he accidentally shot himself in the hand with his own gun while leaving a gun show.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

And in Ohio, a man was accidentally shot in the arm and leg when a dealer looking at a handgun accidentally pulled the trigger.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
