(KCEN) -- Today marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and a large percentage of Americans say it should remain the law of the land.
On this date in 1973, in a landmark decision, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortions under most conditions.
Now a new NBC / Wall Street Journal poll finds a whopping 70 percent of Americans say that Roe v. Wade should not be overturned.
That is the highest percentage on that question since 1989.
The poll also found that 54 percent of Americans say abortion should be legal either always or most of the time.
