(KCEN) -- An officer involved shooting in Arlington ended with a shoplifting suspect dead.

Officers say they followed a shoplifting suspect across a freeway and to a parking lot on the campus of Tarrant County Community College.

That's when officers say the suspect got into a physical altercation with police.

That officer, fearing for his life, shot the suspect.

The suspect died at the scene.

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating the shooting and the Arlington Police Department will take the lead on the criminal investigation.
