(KCEN) -- The United States Postal Service is down-grading their operation.
If you live in the 765-- zip code, today is the last day your mail will be postmarked and processed locally.
Surrounding zip codes are reported to be on an accelerated list to have their mail processed out of Austin.
Former U.S. Postal Service employees said 40 people have been reassigned or terminated from the Waco Postal Distribution Facility.
And 200 more could lose their job this year.
Former USPS Employee Bruce Wolanin said, "They're gonna do away with 200 jobs. What are we gonna do? We can't all deliver mail."
Sam Bolens, with the United States Postal Service, said, "We are losing about 25 million dollars a day in our operation. The facilities that we have in our network for mail processing is larger than what we need to get the job done."
Zip codes that start with 766-- or 767-- have been placed on an accelerated list to soon be processed in Austin.
