Anniversary of Roe v. Wade Ruling Sparks Nationwide Protests

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the landmark Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion.

Saturday pro-life Texans marched down Congress Ave in Austin to fight the 40-year-old ruling.

And in Washington DC tens of thousands of people gathered for one of the nation's largest anti-abortion demonstrations.

They marched to the Supreme Court calling on them to overturn the Roe vs Wade decision to legalize abortion.

Marchers were greeted by counter protesters on their trek down Constitution Avenue.

"You are killing, you are taking the place of God," says protestor Pat Murray.

Jack Solano who supports Roe v. Wade says, "If you make abortion illegal you are controlling a woman's body with a law and that is not something that happens in a democracy."

NBC News Wall Street Journal poll found 70 percent of Americans support the Roe vs Wade decision.
