(KCEN) -- A bill to protect gay rights in Texas is making its way to lawmakers right now.
House Bill 238 would prohibit workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity expression.
Democratic State Representative Mike Villareal of San Antonio filed the House bill to make that type of discrimination a violation of Texas Labor Code.
However, it hasn't had much luck in the past.
This is the sixth legislative session to hear the item.
It has bounced around committees but was left pending each time.
Still, supporters think there is a chance it could pass as public perceptions continue to change.
