(KCEN) -- What started as a lie to get some free drinks landed a Texas man in jail.
Forty-three-year-old Charles Brandon told bartenders he was a Dallas County Fire Marshal and flashed a stolen badge to get free drinks.
But it turns out the actual fire marshal was already in the bar.
The real fire marshal called police and had Brandon arrested.
It is a felony to impersonate a public servant in Texas.
Brandon is also suspected in a similar impersonation case on New Year's Eve.
