Police Investigate Fatal Crash In Waco - kcentv.com - KCEN HD - Waco, Temple, and Killeen

UPDATE: Detectives have released their findings from a preliminary investigation of an accident on Old Lorena Road in Waco on January 30 that claimed the lives of two people.

It appears the Honda James Birl Gray was driving north on the road when he crossed over the yellow line for an unknown reason.

That caused the Dodge, driven south by Elmer Franks, to collide with Gray's car.

In the collision, the front left corners of the vehicles hit. The impact made the Dodge turn counter clockwise and land on the southbound shoulder facing north.

The Honda also rotated counter clockwise and stopped on the northbound side of the road facing north.

The incident is still being investigated.

(KCEN) -- Just after 4 p.m. yesterday Waco police responded to Old Lorena Road south of Church Road for a head-on car crash.

The two vehicles involved were traveling in opposite directions when one of the vehicles crossed into the other lane. The vehicles collided, spun and landed in the ditches.

Sixty-eight-year-old James Birl Gray of Eddy was the driving the 2010 Honda van involved in the crash. Gray was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eighty-nine-year-old Elmer Franks of Hewitt was driving the 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck involved in the accident. He was CareFlighted to Hillcrest where he was later pronounced dead.  

The Waco Accident Reconstruction Team was called to assist with the accident and is investigating along with the Waco Police Department.

(KCEN) -- One person was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Waco.

 The accident happened just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 84 and Old Lorena Road.

 That's where police say two vehicles collided head on.

  One driver was killed and the other was flown to the hospital.

   Both of their identities have not yet been released.
