WACO, Texas – The 23rd-ranked Baylor women's golf team travels to Coral Gables, Fla. to open its spring schedule at the 2013 Hurricane Invitational that begins Monday.
The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by the University of Miami at the par-71, 6,018-yard Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club. Teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, with the first round slated for a 7 a.m. CT shotgun start. Tee times for Tuesday's championship round will also begin at 7 a.m.
The Lady Bears lineup includes sophomores Hayley Davis and Emma Carberry, along with freshmen Annette Lyche, Natalia Perez and Lauren Taylor. Freshman Laura Lonardi, a Verona, Italy, native, will compete as an individual in her first tournament as a Lady Bear after joining the program in January.
Baylor will compete in a 16-team field including tournament host Miami, Boston College, Campbell, Daytona State, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgetown, Iowa, James Madison, Longwood, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts and Texas State.
Baylor finished its fall season with a fifth-place finish at the UTSA Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. Taylor finished second individually and was followed closely by Davis, who finished tied for fifth place.
