Pentagon Report: Army Suicides Reach Record High

(KCEN) -- And a staggering new statistic released by the Pentagon says more American soldiers died of suicide than in combat last year.

There were 325 confirmed or potential suicides among active duty and non-active Army personnel in 2012, an average of almost one death per day, and a record high number.

While total military deaths in Afghanistan for the year were 313.

The Army's Deputy Chief of Staff says the Army continues to take aggressive measures to prevent suicide and help soldiers and officers suffering mental trauma.
