(KCEN) -- Hundreds of people gathered Sunday to honor a man who lost his life last week trying to protect the children of his town.
Charles Poland, Jr. was remembered as a kind and gentle man who would do anything to help his neighbors.
The 66-year-old school bus driver was killed trying to stop a gunman who boarded his bus.
Mourners praised Poland's character and devotion to children.
