(KCEN) -- It's a big win for the Catholic church.
Today President Obama announced a new health care mandate that would allow religious organizations to opt out of paying for insurance covering birth control.
The proposed guidelines would still ensure women get contraception for free by covering it through a separate insurance program.
It also broadens the definition of organizations eligible to opt-out of contraceptive coverage.
Catholics United says this is a victory for the President's administration as well as the church.
