
The Highlassies opened the game on an 8-0 run and extended the lead to
nine, 16-7, with 7:56 to play in the first half. Temple ended the half
on a 16-2 run to take the 23-18 advantage at the break.
MCC's
Cha'Zaye Wright came out hot, opening the second half on a 7-0 run of
her own. The Highlassies took the 31-27 lead with 12:58 remaining in
the game. The Lady Leopards responded with a 10-0 run in the next five
minutes to break open the game. Temple extended the lead to 14 with just
under three minutes to play. The Highlassies fought back, cutting the
lead to seven but ran out of time to complete the comeback.
Sondra Flippin led the Highlassies with 12 points and Wright scored 11. Shanice Davis added 10.
MCC returns to action on Wednesday,
hosting Ranger. The women's game will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by
the men at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and make a
donation to help the Highlassies support breast cancer awareness.
