U.S. Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford, Jr assumed command from General John Allen at a ceremony in Kabul, Afghanistan today.
A number of top-ranking military men and senior Afghan, NATO and U.S. Officials attended.
Dunford and fellow Marine Allen are longtime friends
Allen spent 19-months leading ISAF, making him the longest serving commander in the 11-year-old war in Afghanistan
