(KCEN) -- About 4,000 people are stuck on board a Carnival cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico until Wednesday.
A press release said the Carnival Triumph has lost propulsion because of a fire in the engine room Sunday morning.
The ship is now running on emergency back-up power and will have to be towed to shore.
It happened as the ship was located about 150 miles off the coast of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula.
It left port in Galveston, Texas on Thursday and was set to return today.
