(KCEN) -- Today a former Army Staff Sergeant became just the fourth living recipient of a Medal of Honor from serving in Afghanistan.
Clint Romesha risked his own life to help American troops fend of some 400 Taliban attackers in Afghanistan back in 2009.
The fight lasted more than 12 hours.
Eight Americans were killed.
President Obama presented Romesha with the Medal of Honor in Washington this afternoon.
Romesha said, "This award is for the eight soldiers who didn't make it and for the rest of the team that fought valiantly and magnificently that day."
He will also be a guest of First Lady Michelle Obama at the President's State of the Union address tomorrow night.
